Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal can make a significant life change for people of all ages, genders, ethnicities and lifestyles. Problem hair is endlessly frustrating, and the process of removing it takes up our money and our time. Laser hair removal is a powerful investment in your smooth skin - you’ll ultimately save time and money (by cutting down your shaving, waxing and plucking), avoid ingrown hairs, and gain so much confidence along the way.
Our Hair Removal Laser: GentleMax Pro Plus
We use an amazing piece of technology called the GentleMax Pro Plus. This is the most updated Candela laser available, and is the #1 dermatologist-recommended brand for laser hair removal.
This is an FDA-approved device that has become the gold standard for laser hair removal.
It’s non-invasive, painless and incredibly efficient.
It offers two wavelengths - Alexandrite and YAG. This means that we’re able to treat all skin types and tones.
We now have the newest updated version of this laser, allowing for faster treatment times even with larger treatment areas.
During laser hair removal, the laser delivers energy through an intense beam of light. This light targets the hair follicles within your skin, where each hair grows. The energy is absorbed by the follicle, where it heats and damages the hair production area. Our laser also features a cooling component to prevent discomfort during your procedure.
How to Prepare for Your Laser Hair Removal Appointment
Avoid plucking, waxing, or electrolysis before your laser hair removal treatment. Don’t bleach the area so that the hair follicle pigment attracts the laser energy.
Shave the treatment area 24-48 hours before your appointment. This makes it easier for the laser to target the follicles below the skin and reduces the risk of burns.
Avoid sun exposure on the area that’s going to be treated to help make treatment safe and effective.
Tell your technician about any medications you’re taking or topical medications you’re applying so that they can ensure there won’t be any adverse reactions.
Laser Hair Removal Treatment Steps
You’ll have a series of laser hair removal sessions as hair grows in cycles, and it needs to be treated several times to impede further growth.
Preparation - Follow the steps in the section above - the most important is to avoid waxing or plucking for 4 weeks prior to treatment. The hairs need to be present in their roots/follicles in order to be successfully targeted by light energy. Shaving is completely fine!
Shave your treatment area 24 hours before treatment.
Protection - Your technician will provide eye protection so that the laser doesn’t harm your eyes.
Personal adjustment - The laser will be set to treat your skin tone and your technician will also take the treatment area and skin thickness into account. The goal is to make the laser as effective as possible without harming your healthy skin.
Treatment - The laser will be passed over the treatment area as it pulses bursts of light energy. Most clients experience a mild sensation like a rubber band against the skin. The GentleMax Pro’s cooling function helps minimize discomfort, and the skin is usually the most sensitive during the first procedure.
Additional sessions - The hair follicles needed to be treated during multiple stages of the hair growth cycle, so a series of treatments is necessary for the best results. Clients usually receive between 4-10 sessions total, each 6-8 weeks apart.
After your appointment, there may be mild redness in the treatment area, but this will quickly fade. Be sure to use sunscreen and protect your treated skin from the sun as much as possible.

Laser Hair Removal FAQ
How many laser hair removal sessions will I need?
You’ll need to undergo several sessions, and your technician will advise you of how many they recommend at your consultation. These should be 6-8 weeks apart so that you target each phase of the hair growth cycle.
Will laser hair removal be effective on my skin type/hair?
The GentleMax Pro is appropriate for a wide range of skin tones. Schedule a consultation to learn what we recommend for you. The clients that see the least success with laser hair removal are those with very light hair, as it’s harder for the laser to target the pigment.
Will treated hair grow back?
Because hair grows in cycles, it will continue to grow until you’ve completed all of your treatment sessions. However, you will start to notice a reduction in hair growth after beginning the process.
Which areas can I treat?
Laser hair removal is appropriate for areas across the body - chin, upper lip, neck, shoulders and back, arms, legs, bikini area, underarms, hands, and more. If you’re uncomfortable with stubborn hair in any area, request your consultation to learn more about your options.
